Five Nights At Freddy’s is a franchise dense with lore and gameplay secrets. Three years after the first game’s release, creator Scott Cawthon is set to unveil The Freddy Files, an official guide book to the game’s toughest moments and hottest debates.

In the first official guide book to Five Nights at Freddy's, fans and gamers alike can immerse themselves in the series' mythology, gameplay and secrets as we unwind the twisted mysteries hidden at the heart of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Delving into each game, players can map the animatronics' paths, learn how timed elements of the games work and discover how to trigger unique events.
Special sections throughout highlight Freddy's fans' most talked-about theories, from The Bite of '87 vs. The Bite of '83 to the identity of Purple Guy to the recurring hallucinations of "it's me." All the evidence, along with every detail of the games and novels, is laid out for fans to explore in this one-of-a-kind guide to the warped world of Five Nights at Freddy's.
From that summary, the implication here is The Freddy Files will probably focus more on gameplay tips rather than solving actual story elements. However, because Cawthon himself is penning every page, there’s no telling what tiny hints and secrets might be in store. After all, most Five Nights At Freddy’s diehards have finished the games and don’t need more help. Cawthon loves his most loyal followers, so the theory discussion will likely be for them.
What’s also interesting to note is that the summary mentions Freddy Files being the “first official guide book.” Does that mean a second one might come after the release of more games? It’s hard to count anything out when it comes to FNaF.
In terms of coverage, we’d expect this guide to handle everything from the original Five Nights At Freddy’s to Sister Location . While a very different spinoff, it will be interesting to see how much the commercially panned FNaF World RPG gets discussed in the 144 pages. It plays a critical role in many big theories, but will those ones be talked about? It’s not totally clear.
The Freddy Files is the second Five Nights At Freddy’s book currently in development. Prior to its release, the Five Nights At Freddy’s: The Twisted Ones novel is slated to arrive June 27.
Five Nights At Freddy’s: The Freddy Files is expected to come to Kindle and paperback by Aug. 29. Its Kindle price is listed at $5.99, while paperback is $6.21.
