Now that Doctor Strange movie reviews are out, we’ve got details on what to expect in the end credits scene. There are actually two after credits scenes. The first features Thor. Dr. Stephen Strange takes a meeting with Thor at his Sanctum Sanctorum, where Thor reveals he and his brother, Loki, are looking for their father, Odin. Strange offers Thor tea, which he then transforms into a automatically refilling glass of beer.
“I keep a watchlist of individuals and beings from other realms that may be a threat to this world. Your adopted brother Loki is one of those beings. So, why bring him here to New York?” Strange aks Thor according to reports. “So if you found Odin, you’d all adjourn to Asgard?”
Thor agrees to his family’s return to Asgard and Strange extends his help in finding Odin, who has been missing since Thor: The Dark World when Loki impersonated his father so he could take the Asgardian throne for himself. If reports are accurate, the scene would seem to confirm Doctor Strange is in Thor: Ragnarok. The scene aligns with set photos from back in August showing Chris Hemsworth holding a business card with 177A Bleecker Street written on the front. Of course, that is the address for Stephen Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum.
Even though it's Strange’s mission to protect Earth of all mystical threats following the mastery of his newfound abilities, his plan for Thor and his family to simply go back to Asgard probably won’t go down so smoothly. Hulk will also join Thor in Ragnarok. Mark Ruffalo once described the film as a “universal road movie…” across the Nine Realms, perhaps? Sounds like a road trip Doctor Strange would want to get in on.
We’ll have to wait to find out just how big of a role Doctor Strange has in the next Thor movie. If the Sorcerer Supreme is going to be part of Avengers: Infinity War, an appearance in Thor would certainly be warranted.
Doctor Strange releases Nov. 4, 2016. Thor: Ragnarok releases Nov. 3, 2017. Avengers: Infinity War releases May 4, 2018.
