Rumors back in October suggested the anticipated iPhone 8 may feature an all-glass bezel-free design that will could potential increase the display on the standard phone from 4.7-inches to 5-inches and from a 5.5-inch to a 5.8 inch display for the iPhone 8 Plus without altering the iPhone’s current physical dimensions. Now, new rumors suggest Apple may apply the same design concept on its next lineup of iPad tablets.
According to Japanese tech blog Mac Otakara, a bezel-free 10.9-inch iPad Pro could replace the current 9.7-inch model. However, the design may still retain a thin sliver of bezel at the top of the new iPad, which will be reserved for a front-facing FaceTime camera.
And while the new iPads are expected to keep the current length and width, Mac Otakara stated the thickness may increase ever so slightly. The new 10.9-inch model will reportedly be 7.5mm thick, identical to the original iPad Air, or 1.4mm thicker than the current 9.7-inch iPad Pro. Next, the next 12.9-inch iPad Pro may be 0.3mm thicker than the current model. Finally, the rumored “mini” iPad Pro is slated to share the same dimensions as the current iPad mini 4.
In October, renowned Apple tipster KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported the bezel-free iPad Pro could have a 10.5-inch display, which were more conservative than the latest 10.9-inch speculation. Either way, be sure to stay tuned as we expect to learn more concrete information regarding Apple’s next generation iPads in the months ahead.
