Greedventory from Indie publisher Nordcurrent Labs is finally live on Steam and GOG. The game offers a mix of humor and irreverence, mixed with Souls-like and RPG mechanics. It provides players not only with a challenging experience but also one that's truly unforgettable.
In Greedventory, there are no knights in shining armor but instead heroes with bucket helmets and wooden planks. Players have to uncover ancient treasures, face off against evil magicians, and beat titanic bosses. All of these while navigating across an outlandish world packed with crass humor, aiming at generic fantasy settings and tropes. There are moonlit caves to explore along with spooky forests to walk into, all of which are presented using highly stylized pixel-art design.
One thing that sets Greedventory apart from its contemporaries are the well-trodden controls. The game has players wield both their keyboard and mouse in a unique real-time combat system where hand-eye coordination and reaction times are vital. For example, they can use the mouse to attack and evade after which they can release a volley of spells using the keyboard.
It goes without saying that even the most battle-hardened of knights can fall at the hands of dangerous enemies. However, each death is a chance to learn from failure and master the rewarding combat system of the game. As a consequence of dying, players get a refreshing dose of whimsical charm and hilarity.
