Suicide Squad 2 isn’t the only place you’ll see Deadshot. Floyd Lawton is returning to Arrow in Season 5 episode 3, “Matter of Trust.” According to the episode credits, Michael Rowe will reprise his role as the frenemy Oliver first met in Season 1. Lawton has a long history with Diggle, Lyla, and ARGUS in particular. He’s also part of Arrow’s version of Suicide Squad in Season 2 with Captain Boomerang and Cupid. He sacrificed his life for Lyla, Dig, Amanda Waller and the squad in Season 3. Looks like Flashpoint isn’t only a problem for Barry Allen.
Lawton, a former soldier, could be part of Dig’s story arc in Season 5. Dig is in some serious trouble after being framed by his superior officer for the murder of several men in his military unit. Last week, Marc Guggenheim said Dig has a ‘long tail’ story arc this season, and adding a classic antihero like Deadshot to the mix would certainly add some flavor.
Dig is the character most affected by Flashpoint on Arrow , so it can’t be a coincidence Deadshot is coming back fromt he dead, especially since Dig had more of a relationship with Deadshot than Oliver did in Season 2. Not to mention, Deadshot is an expert at getting out of a jam. Dig could certainly use his help.
Oliver is going to be busy dealing with Stardust (guest star Cody Rhodes) in episode 3, which also supports the theory Deadshot will be a part of Dig’s arc. In episode 4, Oliver is teaming up with Lyla to go on a secret mission for Dig. If Deadshot joins in on the rescue mission, it will be just like old times.
