Felicity’s had a rough run on Arrow. She spent years crushing over Oliver. When she finally found someone who loved her back, billionaire Ray Palmer, she broke up with him because of her feelings for Oliver. After she and Oliver finally go live happily ever after, she becomes paraplegic after an attack on Oliver’s life. Then, she breaks up with Oliver and ends up killing thousands of people in Havenrock to spare the rest of the world. And now, in the midseason finale, Oliver has accidentally killed her new boyfriend, Detective Billy Malone.

It looks like all this drama will catch up with Felicity this season and she may not be the same chipper blonde geek we’ve come to love (and hate) in the last five years. Executive Producer Wendy Mericle told TV Line Felicity won’t blame Oliver for Billy’s death, but she will be out for revenge.

“Felicity has set her sights on Prometheus,” Mericle said. “This season we have said we’re going to take her to a darker place, and you’re seeing the genesis of the reason why, right here.”

Fueled by a newfound anger, Mericle describes some of Felicity’s forthcoming actions as “morally questionable.”

“Felicity is going to meet some people who are both a bit tied to her past but also very much tied to this new future she’s contemplating, and that’s going to draw her away from the team and lead her to do some things that are pretty morally questionable.”

In the midseason finale, Prometheus set up a trap that resulted in Oliver killing Detective Billy Malone with an arrow through the chest. However, the real unexpected twist is Oliver coming clean about what happened instead of lying to the team. He breaks down sobbing in front of the whole group and tells Felicity he shot her boyfriend. Check out the heart-wrenching scene below:
