The CW just released the best Arrow Season 5 trailer yet. It proves just how dark and mean the Green Arrow is going to be in the wake of the Black Canary’s death. It looks like he’s even being scolded by Speedy for killing again. This trailer is our first look at Cody Rhodes’ unnamed character whose mission is to ‘Destroy Oliver Queen.’ Rhodes first appears when Tobias Church says, “It’s not pain that breaks people, it’s fear,” at the 47-second mark.
Felicity has clearly moved on from ‘Olicity.' The footage shows a precious makeout sesh with her new beau. The flashbacks of Oliver’s past are intensifying. He says ‘I am Bratva’ in Russian as his associates slash his back with a knife. We also get a glimpse of Dolph Lundgren, whose villainous character is tied to the Russians and Oliver's promise to Taiana in Season 4.
The season will be full of more villains of the week. Prometheus, briefly shown in the trailer, is definitely the season’s biggest bad. He’s out for revenge for something that ties back to Season 1. But with Deathstroke rumored to return in crossover episode (Season 5 episode 8), Oliver is going to have his hands full dealing with demons from his past on Lian Yu.
Still a complete mystery is Adrian Chase, Star City’s new district attorney. He’s also known as The Vigilante. Whether he will take on that name and work with Team Arrow 2.0 remains to be seen.
Arrow returns Oct. 5.
