Wonder Woman is hesitant to join the fight in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice after 5,000 years of bad experiences with humanity.
Wonder woman actress Gal Gadot recently spoke to Empire magazine (via Comic Book Movie) about her character’s story arc and personality in the upcoming film. At the start of Batman vs. Superman, Wonder Woman has retired her lasso and invisible plane. She wants to blend in with humanity and live life away from the battlefield because she’s seen what war can do to mankind.
"Because she's seen it all, she has seen what humans can do, so it was very hard for her to come back and fight," Gadot told Empire. The actress went on to explain the difference between Diana Prince and her alter ego Wonder Woman, “They have the same attitude. Although when she is Diana she tries to blend in, she is not too outgoing. I don't want people to think she is perfect. She can be naughty."
What convinces Wonder Woman to join the fight is unknown, but she does eventually play a key role in the creation of Justice League. Batman vs. Superman director Snyder recently shared his excitement for people to see Gadot take on Wonder Woman during an interview with Film Ink. Snyder shared the story of Gadot’s casting and how she wowed her costar Ben Affleck during her screen test.
"We tested a bunch of actresses, as you can imagine," Snyder told Film Ink. "But the thing with Gal is that she’s strong, she’s beautiful, and she’s a kind person, which is interesting, but fierce at the same time. It’s that combination of being fierce but kind at the same time that we were looking for. She can get serious, but she’s amazingly fun to be around. And by the way, she really held her own with Ben in the screen test.”
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is slated to hit theater March 25.
