The studio behind 2015’s Life Is Strange and the upcoming Vampyr continues to expand its horizons. DONTNOD Entertainment is now developing its first multiplayer shooter, called BATTLECREW Space Pirates , in collaboration with DONTNOD ELEVEN (formerly HESAW). And the newly announced shooter is headed to Steam Early Access before the end of 2016.
Details on DONTNOD’s first shooter remain scarce at this time. The studio says fans can expect “a competitive multiplayer shooter, with a high-paced gameplay, both accessible and deep” and all the action will be set in an “original and iconic” universe. A handful of characters from the upcoming shooter can be seen in the game’s first trailer, published on Wednesday, but we don’t have any additional information on the world or heroes we’ll see in BATTLECREW Space Pirates at launch. As with most modern shooters, DONTNOD apparently plans to host a variety of community events, from unique challenges to temporary in-game activities.
There’s currently no word on when BATTLECREW Space Pirates will officially launch; however, players won’t actually have to wait for the game’s official release date to get hands-on time with DONTNOD’s first shooter. According to DONTNOD, BATTLECREW Space Pirates will spend a fair amount of time in Steam Early Access, giving the studio a chance to solicit player feedback and make necessary balance adjustments while continuing to expand the game. The two studios don’t have an exact date yet but say fans can expect to see BATTLECREW on Steam “soon.”
