The numbers are in, and the beta for Battlefield 1 was the biggest in EA history. EA and DICE have shared stats on the beta, and a whopping 13.2 million players signed in to play. According to the infographic shared, this is more than double the strength of the British and Ottoman Empires deployed in the Middle East during World War I.
Of those 13.2 million players, 30 percent deployed as Assault, 28 percent as Scout, 21 percent as Support and only 10 percent as Medic. That means more people (11 percent) deployed as a tanker, pilot or cavalry than medic. Come on, Battlefield players, you gotta provide that support for your team!
Battlefield 1 really hyped up melee combat, including several different close-range weapons. Players were obviously fans of these, as 28.9 million melee kills were registered during the beta. 13 million kills came from armored trains and 23.8 million kills came on the road.
Another new feature players took a liking to: horses. There were 62.2 million kills from horseback during the beta.
DICE mentioned it will be making tweaks to multiplayer before Battlefield 1 releases. While full details on the changes will be released later, it looks like the Light Tank will definitely be getting nerfed.
If you want to play Battlefield 1 as early as possible, EA Access and Origin Access subscribers can start mowing each other down all over again on Oct. 13. If you aren’t, you’ll just have to wait until Oct. 21 like the rest of us.
