The hype for Battlefield 1 is real. More than 13.2 million players participated in the open beta earlier this month, making it the biggest in EA history.
The Battlefield 1 release date isn't until Oct. 21, but the DICE team are already looking ahead at future DLC content. Earlier this week, DICE shared new details of its December DLC, a new Battlefield 1 map called Giant's Shadow.
According to the website, Giant's Shadow throws players into the Battle of the Selle, which took place during the fall of 1918 in France. Giant's Shadow is in reference to the massive airship that crashed on the field during battle.
"The British forces have broken through the Hindenburg line and are now in pursuit towards an important railway center," stated the official Battlefield site. "Fierce infantry and tank engagements ensue on the open ground and river banks alongside the Cateu-Wassigny railway."
Did the description say railway? That's right, fans of the armored train in Sinai Desert will be happy to know that the upcoming map will feature an armored train as well.
Giant’s Shadow will be coming to Battlefield 1 as part of a free update in December. Beyond the Giant's Shadow DLC, Battlefield 1 will also feature four expansion packs that bring 16 new multiplayer maps to the game.
At this time, there are six confirmed Battlefield 1 maps:
- The St. Quentin Scar
- Sinai Desert
- Amiens
- Monte Grappa
- Empire's Edge
- Giant's Shadow (coming in December)
Battlefield 1 arrives for PS4, Xbox One and PC on Oct. 21. Lucky EA Access and Origin Access subscribers will get to play the game a little earlier on Oct. 13. Are you grabbing a copy?
