Good news for Jared Leto! Joker won’t be the big villain in Ben Affleck’s Batman movie. The Wrap reports Deathstroke will be the big baddie in DC’s latest adaptation.

Affleck shared a video of what appeared to be Deathstroke on the set of the Justice League movie. According to The Wrap , Affleck was actually teasing the introduction of Deathstroke in the upcoming Batman movie, which he will write and direct for DC.

Deathstroke and Batman have a tense history in the DC comics, though not as bad as the villain’s rivalry with the Green Arrow. Deathstroke is a mercenary and assassin who’s worked with Talia al Ghul to take down Batman. He’s ruthless, and an interesting choice for the Batman movie.

However, the news of Deathstroke being the main villain in the Batman movie isn’t a big shocker. Jared Leto, who played The Joker in DC’s Suicide Squad movie, is rumored to be deeply upset with Warner Bros. regarding the portrayal of his character. A recent report from Batman-News reported Leto opened up about his disappointment in the film during the Q&A portion of a fan event. A fan shared Leto’s response to the criticisms on the Tumblr page :

[Leto] was very honest about the film this weekend; his disappointment in what he’s learned of the theatrical cut (he’s still not seen the film); feeling sort of tricked into being a part of something that had been pitched to him very differently; thinking it would’ve been more artistic than what it became; feeling overwhelmed by the hate regarding the look and choices…

This is could be a good thing for Warner Bros. It gives the studio time to figure out what to do with The Joker, and better establish his relationship with Harley Quinn. Hopefully DC redeems itself with the Wonder Woman movie coming out later this year.
