Mods are coming to Cities: Skylines on Xbox One, and gamers won’t have to wait long to try them out. Mod support will begin tomorrow, Feb. 20. This information comes from a post on the Xbox website.
The mod selection on Xbox One has been curated, which means there aren’t going to be any crazy or potentially offensive mods available to install. Granted, Cities: Skylines doesn’t quite have the number of nude mods as, say, Skyrim, but still. The point is that Paradox has combed through popular mods and selected which ones players will be able to access.
“Paradox has always been very proud to support modders across all our games, and the creative, fun-loving community that’s grown with us around Cities: Skylines has shared some incredible ideas with us,” Sarah Neudinger, project manager at Paradox, wrote in the announcement post. “We’ve been hoping to share those contributions with our players on the Xbox One since launch, and thanks to the hard work from Tantalus and the great support from the Xbox team, we’ve got a selection of mods that have been curated, tested, and are ready to drop right into your cities tomorrow – all free of charge with the new update.”
Neudinger says the company wants to hear feedback from players trying out the mods, and to let the company know if it is on the right track. “we’d love to see about keeping this content growing,” she said.
Additional content is teased at the end of the post, including one free and one paid update. The paid update, the Content Creators Pack, is part of the Cities: Skylines season pass, and adds buildings created by community artists and modelers. The free content update will include the ability to host a sports team in your city. Paradox plans on releasing the free update on March 6, so keep a look out for that soon.
