There have been many rumors and hints surrounding a possible Crash Bandicoot return, but none as obvious as the newest. The voice actor for Dr. Neo Cortex has left a mysterious post on his Facebook wall hinting at a return for the character.

The post, seen above, mentions Lang has been reprising some old voice acting roles from video games. He mentioned he got to play a Doctor, a Devil and a Droid/AI. Giving a quick scroll through his Wikipedia page, Lang has only voiced two characters that stand out as doctors: Dr. Doom in Marvel Heroes and Dr. Neo Cortex in the Crash Bandicoot games.

While this doesn’t absolutely confirm Lang is working on a new Crash Bandicoot game, it certainly points in that direction. Lang specifically mentioned his roles were for “games gone by.” Marvel Heroes released only three years ago. That would hardly make it in the “gone by” category.

This does leave several questions, with the biggest being who will actually be making this new game. Crash Bandicoot was originally made by Uncharted and The Last of Us developers Naughty Dog. Development has since been handed off to other studios like Vicarious Visions, Radical Entertainment and more.

The publishers that own the rights to Crash Bandicoot have bounced around from Sony to Konami and now to Activision. It’s unclear if Activision still has the ownership of the IP, but if it does, that limits who could be the developers. Activision holding onto the rights also eliminates all hope that Naughty Dog will be working on the revival.

Then again, who knows for sure what’s really going on. Based on what Lang has said on Facebook, it does seem likely there will be a Crash Bandicoot announcement at some point in the near future. For everything else, we’ll just have to wait.
