After a week of competition, the CS: GO PGL Major Stockholm 2021 is now down to the last eight teams. That means we’re now in the Champions Stage with matches starting tomorrow and the championship battle scheduled on November 7. There’s no question that the next four days will be exciting to watch.
For the eight teams left, they’re guaranteed $70,000 if they lose and get eliminated. Meanwhile, the champion gets $1 million while the runner-up settles for $300,000.
The final eight teams of the tournament and corresponding pairings are:
- Heroic vs. Virtus.pro
- G2 Esports vs. Ninjas in Pyjamas
- Gambit Esports vs. FURIA Esports
- Natus Vincere vs. Team Vitality
The Road to the Champions Stage
To reach the final stage of the tournament, teams had to go through two different stages. The first was the New Challenges Stage which had 16 teams and had the top eight moving to the next stage. For the New Legends Stage, the eight teams from the previous stage got to fight against those waiting in this particular stage.
What is interesting about this part of the tournament is that of the eight teams that moved to the Legends Stage, only two of them managed to survive. Making it even more exciting is that these teams are facing each other in the first round of the Champions Stage. For those wondering, it’s Heroic and Virtus.pro.
That also means that of the eight teams waiting in the Legends Stage, only two were eliminated and these were Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid.
