In this post, we’ll be walking you through the fight against the Vordt of the Boreal Valley, the second of many bosses encountered in Dark Souls 3. Taking down the Vordt isn’t particularly difficult, provided you’re at least moderately comfortable with the dodge roll, but could provide a few headaches if you aren’t sure how to approach the fight. The boss crawls around on all fours, switching to a bipedal stance when preparing to attack. Most of the Vordt’s attacks come after a short delay, giving players an opportunity to reposition and potentially eliminate the need to dodge.
Early in the fight, the boss relies on four attacks: a quick swipe, an overhead slam, a three-hit combo combining the two and a charged swipe attack. All can be avoided by standing behind the Vordt. If you can’t avoid get behind the boss in time, try to dodge towards the Vordt, that way you can easily move behind it after landing. Once you’ve dropped the Vordt’s health to fifty percent. He’ll add two new attacks to his rotation. The first is a running shoulder tackle, repeated three to four times, which can be dodged pretty easily. The second is an ice-based sorcery, that sweeps from left to right, which is easiest to dodge by moving behind the Vordt.
