The oft-rumored Destiny sequel finally has an official name, less than a week after Bungie said it wouldn’t address the project until after the Age of Triumph. Still, additional information on Destiny 2 remains incredibly scarce. Most of what we “know” about the project comes from rumors and unconfirmed reports but there are a handful of confirmed details floating around, including rumors that a popular NPC from the first Destiny will return in this year’s sequel.

Let’s start with the little stuff. For starters, the Destiny 2 poster that leaked last week seems to confirm at least one weapon manufacturer ( SUROS ) from the first Destiny will be featured in the sequel when it debuts this fall. The poster also suggests that while character progression won’t transfer, Bungie plans to use the same three Guardian classes in Destiny 2 . The trio aren’t labeled on the poster, so it’s possible this is just misdirection on Bungie’s part; however, each Guardian is wearing gear (like the Hunter’s cloak) associated with a specific class.

The leaked Destiny 2 poster also suggested a beta will be hosted at some point before launch. Eurogamer says the testing will occur this June, potentially paving the way for some sort of “You can play today!” announcement at E3 2017, and will be PS4 exclusive for an unspecified period of time. The game is expected to hit stores on Sept. 8, based on the same poster, but it’s unclear if this is a global launch date or if fans in North America -- where games typically release on Tuesday, not Friday -- can expect to see Destiny 2 a bit earlier in the month.

There are also a handful of unconfirmed claims being taken as gospel by large swathes of the Destiny fandom. Kotaku’s Jason Schreier -- arguably the most trusted reporter on the planet when it comes to Destiny news -- says Destiny 2 will hit PC, in addition to PS4 and Xbox One; however, there’s been no significant discussion (rumored or otherwise) of a Switch port. Schreier also says the sequel will focus on “play-in destinations”, like towns and forts, instead of hopping between several celestial bodies. Schreier once claimed Destiny 2 would also move the action to Saturn; however, those statements were subsequently removed without further explanation.

Last, but certainly not least, a tweet directed at popular Destiny streamer Gothalion suggested GameStop would be passing out Cayde-6 figures to those who pre-order the upcoming sequel. If true, presumably fans could expect to see the Nathan Fillion-voiced character return in Destiny 2 . Unfortunately, it looks like this is just a rumor. The toy shown on Twitter appears to be a finished version of the Cayde-6 figure Bigshot Toyworks unveiled at New York Comic Con, part of a series that will be released “ in waves ” later this year.

UPDATE: There might be something to the Cayde-6 rumors after all. Guess who got the spotlight in the first teaser trailer for Destiny 2?

Unfortunately, there aren’t any trailers for the recently confirmed Destiny sequel yet. But with the first game’s final event beginning this week, it’s probably safe to assume we’ll be hearing a lot more about Destiny 2 in the near future.

Destiny: Rise of Iron is currently available on PS4 and Xbox One. The game’s sequel, Destiny 2 , is expected to hit stores this September.
