The launch trailer for Destiny: Rise of Iron is now available online, ahead of the expansion’s highly anticipated debut next Tuesday, but anyone who’s kept a close eye on development of the next Destiny DLC won’t learn much from Bungie’s latest preview. But the two minute video should be more than enough for anyone who’s been looking for a reason to revisit Destiny.
The latest Destiny: Rise of Iron trailer from Activision and Bungie begins much like many of the other preview videos we’ve seen for the shared-world shooter’s next expansion. Lord Saladin recounts the story of the Iron Lords, Guardians who sacrificed their lives to protect what’s left of mankind from the SIVA virus ravaging the Plaguelands. Unfortunately, it looks like the fallen heroes didn’t seal the virus away quite as effectively as they thought. Now, corrupted Fallen (known as Splicers) have broken through the massive wall separating the Plaguelands from the Cosmodrome. And it’s up to the player, along with the rest of the Destiny community, to ensure the SIVA virus doesn’t wipe out what’s left of humanity.
For a closer look at Destiny: Rise of Iron, and the story beats we’ll see in the next Destiny expansion, take a couple of minutes to watch the launch trailer published this week. Then head down to the comments section and let us know if you’re planning to pick up the fourth Destiny DLC when Rise of Iron heads to PS4 and Xbox One later this month.
Destiny: Rise Of Iron is in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The fourth Destiny expansion heads to stores on Sept. 20.
