One of the oldest promises of DOOM Eternal has finally been kept. The developer of DOOM, ID Software, announced that they will add ray tracing support before the game's release. However, a year passed and no ray tracing update came out until yesterday.

It’s no secret that the ray tracing feature is a little heavy on the hardware, hence, the new requirements for PC.

To no one’s surprise, ray tracing will only work on RT-supported cards like RTX 2000, RTX 3000 series, and AMD equivalents. You can still run the game on older GPUs but don’t expect RT features. DLSS 2.0 support is also added to Eternal, however, you must update your Nvidia drivers to 471.11 or above.

The RT PC system requirements are mentioned below.

Minimum
  • 64-bit Windows 10
  • Intel Core i5 at 3.3 GHz or better, or AMD Ryzen 3 at 3.1 GHz or better
  • 16 GB RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6GB) or AMD Radeon RX 6700XT
  • 80 GB hard drive space
Recommended
  • 64-bit Windows 10
  • Intel Core i7-6700K or better, or AMD Ryzen 7 1800X or better
  • 16 GB RAM
  • All NVIDIA GeForce RTX Series cards with 8 GB or more VRAM, or AMD Radeon RX 6800
  • 80 GB hard drive space
Ultra Nightmare
  • 64-bit Windows 10
  • Intel Core i9-9900K or better, or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or better
  • 32 GB RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080Ti, or AMD Radeon RX 6900XT (2160p/60 FPS/Ultra-Nightmare Settings) or;
  • All NVIDIA GeForce RTX Series cards with 11 GB or more VRAM, or AMD Radeon RX 6800XT (1440p/ 120 FPS/Ultra-Nightmare Settings)
  • 80 GB hard drive space
