With two weeks left in Tour 3, things are heating up in the Dota 2 competitive scene in Southeast Asia. Talon Esports has taken the lead with a 5-1 standing. The team is followed by BOOM Esports and Fnatic, each one having a 4-1 standing. Rounding up the top four is RSG at 4-2.

Shaky Start

It was back in November 2021 when Talon made the decision to join the Dota 2 competitive scene in Southeast Asia. There was a lot of hype considering that its then team captain was none other than Tal "Fly" Aizik. It started at Division II during Tour 1 but only managed a fifth-place finish.

The team revamped its roster by parting not only with Fly but also with Kim "Gabbi" Villafuerte. They then signed on Worawit "Q" Mekchai and Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon to the roster while bringing in Lee "Forev" Sang-don as a coach.

Slowly Rising to the Top

The new roster had better performance and at the end of Tour 2, they finished second, and that meant Division I for Tour 3.

The team finally found its groove and won its first three matches in Tour 3. They were later defeated by Fnatic but managed to regain composure and won the next two matches.

Talon though can’t be complacent since they’re still within the reach of three other teams. With only three spots for the Arlington Major, it's going to be a tough fight.

Standings

The standings for the SEA show as of this writing:

  • Talon Esports: 5-1
  • BOOM Esports: 4-1
  • Fnatic: 4-1
  • RSG: 4-2
  • T1: 2-2
  • Team SMG: 2-4
  • Nigma Galaxy SEA: 1-5
  • Polaris Esports: 0-6

Scenarios

As seen from the standings, Talon Esports and RSG have one match left: against each other. If Talon wins, their chance to be part of the Arlington Major gets even higher.

BOOM and Fantic are also set to face each other, and whoever wins could compete in the Arlington Major.

There is, however, one team that fans should keep their eyes on, and it's T1. They may be at 2-2 but they’ve been known to perform under pressure.

What do you think? Which team is going to the Arlington Major? Dota 2 is available on PC.
