Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group officially launched The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame. The game is now available digitally on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch. Physical copies for Switch are available starting on March 4.
The game is inspired by The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. Much like the movie that inspired it, the game starts in Apocalypseburg, now a desolate wasteland thanks to alien invaders. Emmet, Lucy, and the entire crew travel to the Systar System in order to save their friends.
The game not only offers similar locations and action as found in the sequel, there's even nods to the original 2014 The LEGO Movie as well. TT Games Studios Head of Design Arthur Parsons revealed in a statement that in the game, “kids can play as Emmet, Lucy and other loveable characters.” He added that “[f]amilies and friends can journey together to complete quests and amass hidden relics to complete their collections in fantastical LEGO worlds environments/locations that come to life with a dizzying array of vehicles and creatures.”
Meanwhile The LEGO Group Vice-President for Digital Games & Apps Sean William shared that LEGO has long been known for imagination and creation and the game is able to deliver on this. He said further that “[m]ission based building will empower players and put their creativity into action with the ability to build items anywhere to solve puzzles.”
Aside from Emmet and Lucy, players can unlock at least 100 playable characters from both films.
Players can also look forward to the DLC this spring. Expect the DLC to adds new characters, new locations, and new challenges.
