Konami’s PES 2018 has taken over the newsfeed as of late, but EA Sports is now responding with some new announcements for its highly anticipated FIFA 18. We’re only a little more than a month away from FIFA 18’s release date on Sept. 29 and EA has just announced some of the new stadiums gamers can expect to play on come launch date
According to EA Sports, FIFA 18 will feature four new soccer stadiums. One of the new stadiums, the StubHub Center, was an easy addition as the arena appears in Madden NFL 18 as well. With the new stadiums on the roster, FIFA 18 will have a total of 79 stadiums at release, with 50 of the venues licensed by EA Sports from their real-life clubs. Here are the four stadiums that will debut in FIFA 18.
StubHub Center - The home of the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS (US), this stadium is also the temporary home for the Los Angeles Chargers for the next two to three years. StubHub appears in Madden as well, making this addition an easy one.
Wanda Metropolitano - The new home of Atletico Madrid is an old stadium that was renovated for the 10-time La Liga champions. This season is the first in this stadium for Los Colchoneros.
Kirklees Stadium (Huddersfield Town) and Amex Stadium (Brighton) - These stadiums make their debuts in FIFA 18 as the teams make their way into English Premier League. Huddersfield Town is making their first appearance in the England top soccer league since 1972. For Brighton, this is the team's first ever season in the Premier League.
While FIFA is played worldwide, this edition of the game has only three MLS stadiums (StubHub Center, BC Place, CenturyLink Field). And although MLS is not on the level as La Liga or the Premier League, the league must attempt to get more of its stadiums into EA’s FIFA. It is imperative for soccer fans to get familiar with the environments of MLS in FIFA, not just its teams. Venues like Red Bull Arena or Providence Park should be showcased in the game as well.
