In The Flash Season 2 finale, Jesse Quick (Violett Beane) was on her way back to Earth-2 with her father, Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh). While it was certainly a strong possibility, we didn’t know for sure that Jesse would have a part in Season 3. We knew Wells will return in a regular role next season (maybe even as the Reverse Flash), but finally, it’s been confirmed: Jesse Quick will be back also, the actress told TV Line this week.
“I know I’ll be back, But I don’t know if it’s with or without powers,” Beane said.
Wally West and Jesse ‘Chambers’ Wells getting hit with the speed force was one of the most exciting moments last season. The incident put Jesse in a coma, while Wally wasn’t affected at all at all. After Barry was able to escape from within the speed force, he jolted Jesse with a bolt of energy and she immediately woke. However, when Caitlin tested her for the metahuman gene, it came up negative.
“When Jesse got hit, I was like ‘It’s happening! It’s happening! There was the spark when she got out of the coma, but… it didn’t happen, and I was like, ‘No!’ I’m very excited [to play a speedster], and would love for it to happen early next season,” Beane said at the Saturn Awards in Los Angeles.
Will Wally or Jesse suit up and join Team Flash as a speedster? That was the biggest tease of the latter half of the season and it’s likely the storyline will come to fruition for one of those the two youngsters in Season 3, particularly now that Flashpoint has been set in motion and Justice Society of America, in which Jesse is a member, has been officially introduced on Legends of Tomorrow.
“With the whole Flashpoint, anything can happen, right? It’s literally open to any different kind of false reality. She could be Earth-One Jesse, she could be a speedster…. Who knows!” Beane teased.
