The Microsoft E3 press event just kicked off and we already have some big news. Even with the Twitch stream experiencing some technical difficulties, we managed to see some in-game footage for Gears of War 4. The bloody shooter will be available in October and will be an Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive. If you buy the game on day one, you will be able to play on both and your achievements and progress will be shared.

Gears of War 4 will have a Co-op mode for up to three people and will also have a brand new Horde mode, We got to see a level, and it looked gorgeous. The windstorm blasting in the background brought debris and crazy monsters right into the fight. Halfway through we get to see Felix Jr. interact with the environment, and launch a catapult directly into some enemies.

We only got to see two guns, but they were spectacular. There was the classic Gears of War machine gun, with a chainsaw that had some killer action. We got to see Kait Diaz, the female protagonist, chainsaw a ghoul and then punt it over a fence. We also got to see a brand new gun, one that shoots razor hot saw blades at enemies. These projectiles bounce off terrain and can slice through just about anything.

At the end we saw the granddaddy of it all, Marcus Felix, sitting in a chair, right before the screen cut to black. We also got a look at a brand new Xbox One Gears of War controller, which will feature brand new graphics, a bright red finish and markers on the directional pad for each weapon.

I usually don't get psyched about E3 trailers, but seeing the Gears gang back at it again fills me with so much nostalgia. I can’t wait to shoot more ghouls when the game finally comes out.
