Netflix is resurrecting Gilmore Girls , the critically acclaimed (and universally adored) WB TV series which first premiered 16 years ago. Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson and Kelly Bishop will return as Lorelai, Rory, Luke and Emily to begin filming Feb. 2 in Los Angeles according to TV Line .
The revival series is set in present day and will have 4-parts, each 90 minutes. TV Line reports every installment will focus on one season spanning one calendar year. Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino will write and produce the new season tentatively named Gilmore Girls: Seasons. Other returning cast members include Sean Gunn (Kirk) and Keiko Agena (Lane).
Netflix made a Twitter announcement and fan favorite Lauren Graham, Lorelai couldn't hold back her excitement.
Gilmore Girls ran for 153 episodes over 7 seasons airing on the WB then the CW. Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, founder of Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions, is the brain behind 6 of those seasons but left following a contract disagreement according to The Hollywood Reporter . Now she’ll have another chance at a final season. Netflix has not announced an official release date.
