Last week, Rockstar announced there will be more cars to arrive in the days leading up to the release of the upcoming Stunt Race Creator DLC on Aug. 2. On Sunday, we shared info from renowned GTA tipsters, which hinted at the release of six cars in total. Yesterday, Rockstar surprised us with the release of three vehicles as well as six new races.
Let's talk about the races first. Afterburner is a bike race that involves soaring thousands of feet over Los Santos at night while jumping through flaming wreaths of death. Rockstar Newswire described the race event: "There was a time when jumping through a wreath of flame on a poorly engineered chopper was enough to give even the most jaded patriot a semi. Those simple days are gone, but apply the same formula a thousand feet above an urban area in the middle of the night and you stand a decent chance of a sudden rush of blood to the crotch. Spectacular Stunt Race for Bikes."
Another sky-high race is appropriately called High Flier. The course takes your stunt bike up, around and over virtually every skyscraper in central Los Santos.
For motorcyclists that prefer something more grounded, yet off the beaten path, the Forest race involves a mix of hidden dangers and sweet jumps. "The great woodlands of San Andreas are one of our most bountiful resources, providing an endless supply of endangered timber, plenty of discreet hideaways for doomsday cults, and now some of the most suicidal dirt bike jumps in the country," the Rockstar Newswire reported. "Stunt Race for Bikes."
On the car end of things, we have Double Loop, a race for supercar-class vehicles involving high speeds around a gravity defying course. "You can never have too much of a good thing, especially when that thing is a gravity-defying loop-the-loop over Fort Zancudo," wrote the Rockstar Newswire. "Kiss your already fragile grip on the laws of physics goodbye on this intense Stunt Race for Super cars.
Rockstar is really showing off in its sports car class race, Zebra, complete with insane slingshots and drops. "A few massive slingshots and vertical drops around Mount Chiliad will play havoc with a full stomach. Time to skip lunch... and breakfast... and to pack a change of underwear. Point to Point Stunt Race for the Sports class."
Finally, for the muscle car fanatics, Trench II is the sort of race that will make you reconsider your life choices. "Are you susceptible to paranoia? Feel like the walls are closing in? Often have the sense you're trapped with no escape? Come play this Stunt Race for Muscle cars and give your neuroses something to really latch onto.
With the races out of the way, it’s time for car talk. The new vehicles that dropped yesterday include the Ocelot Lynx and Declasse Drift Tampa sports cars as well as the Western Cliffhanger stunt motorcycle.
The Ocelot Lynx looks sleek and would have been a great addition to any garage... if Rockstar wasn't charging $1.7 million for the Lynx. It's an outrageous sum of money and calls into question the changes going on in GTA Online.
Next, the Declasse Drift Tampa starts at a slightly more attainable $995,000. However, the Drift Tampa is, for some inexplicable reason, categorized under the sports car class. The Drift Tampa is obviously based on Ken Block’s “Hoonicorn” Mustang, which is obviously better suited in the muscle car class. Compounding on the car class mistake is the limited customization options available for the Drift Tampa, which means there’s no way to make it faster after purchase. Despite its aggressive looks and reasonable price, the Drift Tampa is a dud.
Finally, the Western Cliffhanger starts at $225,000. The Cliffhanger looks like a winner as it not only has the looks and makes all the right noises, it’s also a respectable challenger in the motorcycle classes.
That said, with the release of the Ocelot Lynx, Declasse Drift Tampa and Western Cliffhanger, this leaves us with three remaining cars to arrive with the GTA 5 Stunt Race Creator DLC – the Dakar Rally style MTL Dune truck, the rugged Vapid Contender pickup truck and the Sprunk Buffalo stock car.
Speculators initially believed that Rockstar would release its six cars twice a week over the span of six weeks. Obviously, the release of the three cars on Tuesday proved the speculators wrong, but can we predict when we’ll expect the final three cars to round out the new vehicles of Cunning Stunts? According to MrBossFTW, Rockstar may have planned to release the first three cars this week, the next three cars next week. Finally, the release of GTA Online stunt race creator will be on Aug. 2.
