A bit of new information on Telltale Games’ upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy series hit the web this week, courtesy of a familiar retail chain, and it sounds like the upcoming episodic adventure could help bridge the gap between the first and second GotG films. It’s not set in stone. But the latest word on Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series certainly suggests it’ll have some connection to the widely-loved movie.
An official plot synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series suggests the upcoming episodic adventure could pick up shortly after the first GotG movie. We still don’t have any specifics on the story but Gamestop has apparently confirmed that Guardians is set “in the wake of an epic battle” that could very well be a reference to the final battle against Ronan. Granted, “epic battles” aren’t exactly new to comic-based properties. One might even argue adjacency to such events is usually the basis for comic book story arcs. But Marvel’s recent habit of weaving other mediums into the Marvel Cinematic Universe certainly leaves the door open for Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series to have some impact on its ragtag team of characters.
If the series is connected to the movies, it’s five-episode story arc is unlikely to have a major impact on the Guardians or their closest allies. But it could be a way for Marvel to explore some additional corner of the MCU that will be relevant in upcoming films.
