Another day, another new Legendary from Hearthstone’s new expansion, Mean Streets Of Gadgetzan. Disguised Toast, everyone’s favorite cardboard wearing carbohydrate, revealed the newest card from the Jade Lotus, Madam Goya . She isn’t made of beans, but she could be super cheesy.
Madam Goya is a 6-mana Legendary 4/3 minion with a Battlecry that swaps any minion you control on the board with one in your deck. Stat wise, it’s pretty terrible, having as much power as a Piloted Shredder for a much higher cost. If you do want to play this ninja Pandaren, it’s for her effect only. You don’t get to pick the minion and every time you play this card, you need to pray to the RNG gods that you get to pull a Ragnaros The Firelord out of your deck instead of a Babbling Book.
This card can be used in any deck, even though Madam Goya is technically a member of the Jade Lotus. It’s pretty cool that the Hearthstone development team is trying something out of the ordinary and allowing all classes to try this very proper panda.
Overall, I don’t see this card getting used very much. Sure, it can pull off an amazing play by pulling the exact card you need out your deck at a pivotal moment, or it can just waste a whole turn. It does have some pretty cool synergies, like being used in Shaman or Paladin to put a Silver Hand Recruit or a Totem back in the deck to get something more useful. Still, that’s a gimmick at best and won’t have much use for a competitive player.
I’m still going to craft a Madam Goya and try her out in my Control Paladin deck. I’d gladly pay six mana for the chance to turn a Selfless Hero Into a Ragnaros The Lightlord. The salt when my opponent has to hit concede after losing in such an amazingly terrible way is worth the dust alone.
