It looks like Sony and Guerrilla Games are ready to change their promotional strategy for Horizon Zero Dawn, now that we’re less than a fiscal quarter removed from the game’s launch, which means showing off more a more diverse array of content from the studio’s first open-world game. And it turns out Guerrilla’s been holding out on us, with more new creatures appearing in the two-minute video than we’ve seen from the Horizon Zero Dawn team in months.
Our latest glimpse of Horizon Zero Dawn splits its time between many of the environments we’ll explore in the upcoming open-world game. Fans get their first look at several new creatures, including robotic crocodiles and gazelle, alongside more familiar mechanical monstrosities. The new Horizon Zero Dawn trailer also features several metallic animals in colors we haven’t seen before. And we’re pretty sure this is the first HZD trailer to include normal animals, which we were beginning to think hadn’t survived whatever event wiped out most of mankind. The new clip includes a brief shot of a fleeing warthog, without any visible mechanical features, and a gorgeous jungle area that includes dozens of (seemingly normal) ants carrying leaves up a tree.
The latest trailer from Sony and Guerrilla also suggests we’ll be learning more about the events that left Aloy’s world in such disarray. We already know that a deeper understanding of the old world won’t be the heroine’s primary quest; however, it does look like fans can expect to take a deep dive (perhaps literally) into man-made facilities that don’t look anything like the lush outdoor environments we’ll presumably be exploring during most of our time with Horizon Zero Dawn.
To see all the new additions to the Horizon Zero Dawn bestiary, take a few minutes to watch the game’s PlayStation Experience 2016 trailer. Then head down to the comments section and let us know if you’re planning to buy Horizon Zero Dawn when the game hits PS4 early next year.
Horizon Zero Dawn is in development for PlayStation 4. The game debuts Feb. 28, 2017.
