With five new weapons, an arcade-like playlist, game modes, and challenges, Insurgency: Sandstorm’s first ever major update is packed with new content to be enjoyed by new and veteran players alike.
First up on the list of changes is the addition of new weapons - three for Security, or the defenders, and two for Insurgents, or attackers. On the Security side, players will have access to the PF940 pistol, the M240B machine gun, and the MP5A5 SMG. Insurgents, on the other hand, are getting the MP5A2 SMG alongside the MG3 machine gun.
The biggest addition is Insurgency: Sandstorm's all-new Arcade playlist. Similar to the arcade game modes in other popular team-based shooters, Insurgency: Sandstorm uses the Arcade as a platform to introduce new game modes regularly for players to enjoy. While there are plenty of new game modes in the works, developer New World Interactive will be rolling them out on rotation.
Insurgency: Sandstorm’s Arcade playlist is debuting with the all-new Team Deathmatch game mode, introducing classic online shooter gameplay to the tactical, team-based FPS. In Team Deathmatch, players have access to all weapons regardless of whether they’re playing as Security or as Insurgents. There are also more supply points in Team Deathmatch, allowing players to choose their loadouts and selections faster to keep up with the new action-oriented game mode.
Insurgency: Sandstorm is the sequel to Insurgency, New World’s hit indie FPS game that released back in 2014. Following the success of its predecessor, Insurgency: Sandstorm released in late 2018 and has become one of the most popular tactical team-based shooters on the market, and a close rival of Ubisoft’s own Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege. Insurgency: Sandstorm is available on PC, with console editions for PS4 and Xbox One coming later in 2019.
