With all of the Netflix/Marvel series news that happened at San Diego Comic-Con, more information about the order of the series and how often fans should expect their favorite shows have become clearer.
With Luke Cage set to debut in September and 2017 having Iron Fist and the Defenders, it was confirmed during the TCA press tour -- via io9 -- that Daredevil Season 2 and the aforementioned Luke Cage will be the year’s two Marvel offerings.
That continues the trend of two Marvel shows a year on Netflix, which would mean that Iron Fist and Defenders will be 2017’s shows and leaves Jessica Jones Season 2 and Daredevil Season 3 for 2018.
Whether Jessica Jones Season 2 or Daredevil Season 3 will come first is still unknown. While Daredevil Season 3 was teased at Comic-Con, Jessica Jones Season 2 was being filmed alongside Defenders so it would seem that the Ms. Jones will be appearing on Netflix first when the time comes.
The order of the 2017 shows was confirmed to be Iron Fist and then Defenders, if there was any doubt still remaining.
There’s also a Punisher series starring Jon Bernthal also slated for some time in the future but with the crowded slate of shows, it’s not known when fans should expect that series to air. If anything were to break the “two shows a year” trend, it would be not letting Punisher slide all the way to 2019.
Viewers should, however, expect to see the Punisher in other shows like Defenders.
Of course, this “two shows a year” edict has not been officially confirmed by Netflix but has become a trend in recent years and we will probably learn more once Luke Cage debuts on Netflix, Sept. 30.
In the meantime, let us know when you want to see these shows return in the comments section below.
