'Killer Instinct' Kilgore DLC Now Available; 50 Percent Of Proceeds Will Benefit KI Ultra Tour

The next member of the Killer Instinct roster, Kilgore, is now available on Windows 10 and Xbox One. And the latest addition to the KI character select screen is going to be particularly exciting for those still playing Killer Instinct on a professional (or even semi-pro) basis.

According to a new post on the Killer Instinct website, a full 50 percent of the proceeds from the $10 Kilgore DLC will be added to the Community Fund, a cash pool used to pay tournament production costs and to provide prize pools for Killer Instinct events. And with five dollars from each Kilgore purchase added to the fund -- double the contribution Valve makes to its own events when Dota 2 players buy a Battle Pass -- it shouldn’t take long for the Community Fund to make some headlines of its own. Granted, Killer Instinct doesn’t have as many players as the popular MOBA, but Iron Galaxy won't need to sell as many copies of the Kilgore DLC to raise a few million dollars for the KI Community Fund.

All of that cash will benefit the ongoing KI Ultra Tour. Nearly a dozen events are scheduled during the first quarter of 2017, beginning with KIT later this week (Jan. 6-8) and culminating with the KI Cup and Killer Instinct Pro-Am. The latter pair both run the same weekend, March 10-12, but they certainly won’t be the last Killer Instinct events we see in 2017.

Here’s the full schedule for the first three months of the year:
