Patch 6.16 might have been League of Legends ’ tiniest update in months, but that doesn't mean Riot is slacking on the content. Today, three new Arcade skins hit the PBE for Ahri, Ezreal and Corki. It continues the 8-bit theme and adds a bunch of new features, including four new pixel icons and an Arcade Ward skin that is a gameboy with a star flying out of it. We don’t know how much these skins cost, but with their fancy VFX and color swatches, expect them to be somewhere between 975 and 1350 RP.
Arcade Ahri is a beautiful skin. Her tail cycles through a bunch of colors randomly, which look extremely vibrant in game. Her cat ears are no longer attached to her head and are a part of her headphones, which is an homage to the “Cat Ear Headphones” that blew up on Kickstarter a few years back. My favorite thing about Arcade Ahri is her Splash Art, which features a Mario inspired level with coins, question mark boxes and a little map leading to Final Boss Veigar.
Even though we don’t have the Splash Art for Arcade Ezreal, we do know what his skin looks like. Ezreal seems to have taken a trip through Final Fantasy land and grew a very Cloud inspired haircut. His gem is now a gaming pad and a game reader on his back, this guy is ready for some serious playtime. I’m not sure what’s going on with that outfit though – he’s got a purple crotch splotch that makes him look like he’d be good buddies with Armor Of The Fifth Age Taric.
My favorite in this bunch has to be Arcade Corki, who looks like he hijacked Fox McCloud’s ride and did some major remodeling. Corki upgraded his ROFLcopter with a bright blue finish and a body that wouldn’t look out of place in an F-Zero race. My mouth actually started drooling when I saw this skin and my jaw hit the floor after seeing some of his new VFX. His bullets and weapons look like they are out of Contra , with his Gatling Gun firing like a tiny Arcade Miss Fortune Bullet Time.
These skins will come out in Patch 6.19 sometime in the next few weeks, just in time for the World Championship.
