They said it couldn’t be done, but it’s finally happening, League of Legends is finally getting replays. Riot has been an absolute monster this week, bringing back solo queue , Doom Bots and now a replay system. When the preseason starts, players will be able to look back at their old games directly in the brand new client.
Here’s a full list of everything you’ll be able to do once replays come out, straight from Riot’s mouth:
Download your replay from the End of Game Screen or Match History.
Watch Replays from the current patch using our new Replay Mode, with the functionality you’re used to from Spectator Mode.
Find cool moments using the new Annotated Timeline, which marks major events like kills, takedowns of towers and inhibitors, and dragon/baron kills.
Capture video clips of your in-game moments (“Highlights”) using built-in recording functionality.
These Highlights will be stored on your hard drive (C:MyDocumentsLeagueofLegendsHighlights) as a .webm video file. These files can be viewed by opening them in any browser that supports HTML5, and shared to social media alongside your cat gifs.
The only feature that’s missing is the ability to watch replays from previous patches, but I think we are willing to deal with that minor inconvenience.
I’m so excited for whatever Riot releases next, maybe a Galio rework I won’t hate? Reddit user EpicRussia captures all of our thoughts perfectly:
