League of Legends pros are young and impressionable, and sometimes make decisions that confuse the rest of us. According to a statement from G2 esports , Kikis has decided to step down from the main roster of the team. G2 wanted to use a six-man roster for the best-of-two games in the EU LCS and brought on a Korean top laner named Expect. Kikis didn’t like being interchangeable with another top laner, so he gave G2 an ultimatum: kick Expect or kick Kikis.

“For that reason alone, we decided to honor our commitment to Expect, and Kikis subsequently decided on his own to step down from the starting roster and put himself as a substitute player for the remainder of his contract – a decision we fully respect. We would like to thank Kikis for his service to the club over the last 11 months as a starting player, during which he helped the team to qualify for LCS and win the Spring Split playoffs,” G2 said in the statement.

G2 was the best team of the 2016 EU LCS Spring Split, mainly due to Kikis’ shot calling and great play. Before that, he helped Unicorns of Love make it into the LCS with weird jungle picks like Twisted Fate and Udyr. As of now, he’s a sub on G2 with Expect playing on the main roster starting in week 3.

It’s impossible to tell what exactly is happening behind the scenes at the moment. Kikis and the other members of G2 have been silent about the ordeal on social media. Hopefully, Kikis can find a team that’s a better fit, where he’s the star.
