The first League of Legends event of 2016 has been announced by Riot Games Called The Lunar Revel, it will take place from Jan. 26 - Feb. 8 which is just a couple of days after the start of the 2016 pro season..

Details on the Lunar Revel remain scarce at this time. Riot announced the upcoming event on the League of Legends website with little more than a re-direct to the introductory page of the Lunar Revel sub-site, but stopped short of giving us any significant information about the promotion. Given what we know about previous League of Legends events, we’ll almost certainly see new premium skins for a few champions and some kind of addition to League of Legends sprawling (and largely unimportant) lore.

The 2016 Lunar Revel continues a busy month for Riot Games in which the developer also released the latest build of League of Legends, featuring League’s updated champion selectionsystem. Riot also celebrated the commencement of the 2016 competitive season earlier this week, beginning the year-long journey to the next League of Legends World Championship Series.

Unfortunately, it could be a few more days before we learn anything else about the 2016 Lunar Revel. The only thing to be seen in the Lunar Revel section at this time is a (admittedly epic) splash screen for the event and a download link to a Lunar Revel desktop wallpaper.
