Around early to mid-October, Riot announced what the new League of Legends Victorious skin would be. Victorious skins cannot be bought – they can only be earned by getting Gold or above in ranked play over the course of the season. Riot still hasn’t officially announced the skin, but a leak on Chinese site lol.qq has confirmed that this year’s Victorious skin will be Maokai.
There is no doubt about it – Maokai will be joining Elise, Morgana Sivir and more into the illustrious pantheon of past season gifts. Maokai is a solid choice for a Victorious skin. He’s been a major part of the meta ever since his slight rework in season four which had his ultimate travel around him. Still, he really hasn’t done much in season six, with top laners like Gnar, Gangplank and Ekko being the top tier picks pros have been using.
Reddit is pretty pissed about the tree-man getting a skin, but Reddit gets pissed off about anything. User Gemeye sums up what everyone is saying in the comments:
We still don’t know when Riot will make the official announcement, but expect it to be sometime in the next few weeks. Victorious skins are given out when the season ends and season six ends Nov. 11. If you want Victorious Maokai, grind up to Gold and secure yourself some sweet tree-guy loot.
