EA has lightly hinted at the possibility of a Mass Effect trilogy remaster coming to PS4 and Xbox One in the past, but EA’s CCO, Peter Moore, has put those dreams out to die. This news comes from an interview IGN posted with Moore.
When asked about seeing the trilogy of Mass Effect games on the current generation of consoles, Moore said the company was too busy working on new projects. “We’re a company that is focused on delivering for the future.” he said. “It [remasters] is just not what we do.”
Moore continued, bringing up new projects the company was working toward instead of looking back. “We just feel like we want to go forward,” he said. “There’s a little thing called Mass Effect Andromeda that we’re totally focused on at BioWare, and it’s going to be magnificent.”
Sure, BioWare is working on the new Mass Effect game, but surely some team at EA could do the remaster instead, right? Not according to Moore. “Do we have teams that are lying around doing nothing right now that can go and… no we don’t,” he said. Moore claims all the teams at EA are working on delivering new experiences, because that’s what they players want.
IGN countered, asking what if players wanted a remaster instead, Moore questioned how much demand would be needed. “Is there demand? Yes. There’s thousands of people,” he said. “Do we need millions? I don’t know.”
Regardless, it looks like we can finally say goodbye to the thought of playing a remastered Mass Effect trilogy on our PS4s and Xbox Ones. Goodnight, sweet high-definition Shepard.
