The hero spotlight for Medivh in Heroes of the Storm was just released, and boy is he amazing. PC Gamer tried out the mage months ago and claimed that he would be “meta defining” and now I can totally see why. He’s a strong crowd control mage who can easily protect his allies and disrupt his enemies. If you are looking for damage, however, you might want to pick up a Kael’thas instead.
Medivh’s kit and play style is very similar to Bard from League of Legends. They both have stasis ultimate abilities and can create portals that can travel through terrain. Bard is currently the strongest support in competitive League of Legends, helping his team dodge in and out of team fights.
Bard may have chimes but Medivh has something better, the ability to polymorph your opponent into a sheep. Medivh can polymorph any enemy hero, and if that hero is in contact with their ally, they also transform into a sheep. I can just see players making highlight reels online, trying to create the longest chain polymorph ever recorded.
Unlike other heroes in HOTS , instead of taking a ride on a mount, Medivh transforms into a raven that is untargetable while in flight. Use Medivh to scout out enemy locations, find out when they are taking objectives or just caw around them to be a general nuisance. There will definitely be a few toxic players who will stay in permanent raven mode, I can promise you that.
Medivh, the mage that nearly brought doom to the realm of Azeroth is no longer as careless as he was in Warcraft 3. His release ties into the new Warcraft movie, where he plays a starring role.
The mage comes to Heroes of the Storm on June 14.
