The next multiplayer map being prepped for Metal Gear Online finally has a name, Konami confirmed this week, following a request for fan suggestions that generated hundreds of ideas from the Metal Gear Online community. And that’s only the start of this week’s Metal Gear news!
The latest entry in Konami’s Designer’s Notes blog series was published on Tuesday morning, alongside a brief update on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, giving fans of Konami’s latest multiplayer project a brief look at what the future holds for Metal Gear Online. In addition to listing stats for Shalashaska, one of several Phantom Pain characters to also appear in MGO, this week’s designer notes also offer an update on the Motherbase-inspired battleground coming to Metal Gear Online in a future patch.
According to Konami, the new map will be called Coral Complex, on account of the bright orange hue Metal Gear players have come to expect when returning to their forward operating bases. The team has made some adjustments to the traditional FOB formula, like shortening the bridges between platforms, but it sounds like Coral Complex should be mostly familiar territory for those who enjoyed invading other players FOBs in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
In addition to releasing new information on Coral Complex, Konami also published a brief update on some new developmental items coming to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in the near future. Two new uniforms will be added to characters’ growing wardrobe, each of which confers a variety of beneficial effects on your FOB guards if/when they equip the 8-star Battle Dress or Sneaking Suit. There’s also a new rifle, the Brennan LRS-46, on the way, too.
