Starting on April 4, Xbox Game Pass Subscribers can enjoy an iconic sandbox world, explores its different biomes and environments, build modern cities, craft a metropolis in the clouds, harness dark energies, and more - such is the beauty of Minecraft.

The Xbox Game Pass is Microsoft Studios’ premier gaming subscription service. The Xbox Game Pass provides users with unlimited and full access to all of the titles in its expansive catalog, all for a relatively small monthly fee. It’s similar to Electronic Arts' EA Access and Origin Access services, which let users pay a monthly fee to play any and all of Electronic Arts’ game titles on Xbox One and PC respectively. New games are added to the Xbox Game Pass roster on a regular and frequent basis, and this time around, it’s the genre-defining sandbox game Minecraft.

Minecraft was first released in May 2009. Almost ten years since its launch, Minecraft has grown to become one of the most played and most decorated video game titles of all time. The Minecraft player-base currently stands at over 91 million players around the world. Minecraft is also one of the most accessible video games on the planet, and is available on over 20 different platforms. You can get Minecraft on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC - unsurprising, considering those are the four biggest platforms of the day. But you can also get Minecraft on Android and iOS. You can get it on Windows Phones, PS Vita, and the previous generation’s consoles, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game is available on the Nintendo Wii, the New Nintendo 3DS, and even on Raspberry Pi. Hell, you can even get it on the Universal Windows Platform API, which is about as obscure as you can get when it comes to gaming platforms.

However, much to Microsoft’s credit, Minecraft’s addition to the Xbox Game Pass may not be the biggest news the company has to share. In recent announcements, Microsoft will also be releasing Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC for the first time ever. It seems bigger things are brewing over at Microsoft Studios, and as avid gamers, we’re excited to find out what.
