During the Funimation Industry panel at Otakon 2016, the anime distributors announced they have acquired the international rights to the Monster Hunter Stories Ride On anime from Fuji TV and plan to release the series in October on the FunimationNow streaming service.
Monster Hunter Stories Ride On is based on the upcoming Monster Hunter Stories game from Capcom, set to release in October, and the popular Monster Hunter series of games.
“We’re thrilled to be distributing this eagerly anticipated series based on Capcom’s new Monster Hunter Stories game,’” said Gen Fukunaga, CEO and founder of Funimation, in a press release. “With both the game and anime series debuting in October in Japan, we expect Monster Hunter Stories Ride On to be an instant hit on day one with fans of all ages – especially those who have grown up on the franchise.”
The Monster Hunter Stories Ride On anime series will be directed by Mitsuro Hongo, known for directorial roles on Outlaw Star and Immortal Grand Prix and as series director of World Trigger . The series is being produced by David Production, the studio behind the long‐running Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure as well as Planetarian , which premiered on FunimationNow on July 7.

The Monster Hunter Stories game will release Oct. 8 in Japan.
