A new trailer for Monster Hunter: World is out this week, following its debut at Sony’s TGS 2017 presser, alongside a proper launch date for the next iteration of Capcom’s action RPG series. But anyone looking forward to the PC port of MHW will have to wait longer than their console-owning counterparts. How much longer, we still don’t know.
The new Monster Hunter: World trailer offers a more well-rounded look at the next entry in Capcom’s beloved action RPG series. Previous marketing and gameplay demonstrations focused mostly on the Ancient Forest, one of the zones we’ll explore when Monster Hunter: World hits PC and consoles in 2018. But we’ll be exploring a variety of environments in MHW, from peaceful forests to (best we can tell) the base of an active volcano. We’ve also seen footage of a desert environment and it’s safe to assume there are still a few surprises coming between now and next year. This week’s Monster Hunter: World trailer even includes a handful of creatures that haven’t appeared in previous trailers, including a strange, fur-covered bat(?) that certainly looks like it’s going to be a pain in the ass.
But the real news out of Tokyo Game Show 2017 is a firm launch timeline for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. According to the trailer, Monster Hunter: World heads to consoles on Jan. 26. The PC port doesn’t have a launch date yet; however, Capcom says they expect MHW to hit Steam shortly after the console builds debut. PC gamers just have to hope their version of arrives before the Monster Hunter community manages to unearth all of World ’s secrets.
