Joey Bada$$ will make his TV debut as a “close friend” of Rami Malek’s Elliot on Season 2 of Mr. Robot. The 21-year-old rapper confirmed he will play a recurring role in USA’s hit hacker drama, which is already in production and set to return this Summer. Joey Bada$$ ( Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott) will play Leon, a wise, philosophical friend of Elliot who talks too much, but gives meaningful life advice. Joey Bada$$ is best known as the founder of Pro Era, an independent label and hip hop collective based out of Brooklyn with almost a dozen members.
Michael Cristofer ( Phillip Price, CEO of E Corp) and Stephanie Corneliussen ( Joanna Wellick, power-hungry Wife of Tryell Wellick) have also been promoted to series regulars, according to Variety . Newcomer Chris Conroy will also join the cast as Derek, a young handsome man with interested in Joanna. Grace Gummer (Newsroom ) will appear in season 2 as Dominique “Dom” DiPierro, an FBI agent investigating Elliot’s Evil Corp hack.
iDigitaltimes previously reported the 10-episode Season 2 will delve deeper into the emotional backstories of major characters, particularly Elliot. Showrunner Sam Esmail revealed there will be more flashbacks and less “gotcha moments.” USA has not set an official release date, but all hints point to a Summer release. Season 1 premiered June 24, 2015.
