While the playoffs are set to begin in the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series, 704 Games announced the release date of NASCAR Heat 2.
The only NASCAR game on the market is going into its second edition (formerly known as NASCAR Heat Evolution). 704 Games is also the new name of Dusenberry Martin Racing, which made last year’s game. As a whole, it seems that the company and the game are both moving into a new era of racing games and NASCAR Heat 2 is the beginning of this new era.
One of the biggest complaints about NASCAR Heat Evolution was that it seemed too bare bones. Thankfully, it looks as if 704 Games added tons more to the game in NASCAR Heat 2. There are six more tracks added to the game, including three road courses and a dirt track, to bring the total number of the playable tracks to 29. That includes all 23 licensed tracks from Monster Energy Cup Series.
There was also a focus on improved online play with the 40-player race. NASCAR Heat 2 gives players the option to fill the field of online with AI drivers to get races started. In addition to possibly improved online play, split-screen multiplayer racing is now available
Now onto the bad part. NASCAR Heat Evolution was poorly received due to the game's terrible career mode. As of this writing, no information has been released about NASCAR Heat 2’s career mode. Being that the game is due to come out in September, you almost have to assume that either they are holding that information for a stretch run towards the game’s release or are still tweaking it right up to the last minute. Either way, fans will be expecting improvement in career mode this year.
NASCAR Heat 2 will be released on Sept. 12 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam. Are you a fan of the NASCAR games? Let us know your expectations for NASCAR Heat 2 in our comment section.
