The people at Ghost Games are back at it again with a nwe Need for Speed update arriving March 3. The official NFS blog has shared it's latest "Under the Hood #5" this morning, which shares new details about the previously teased '32 Ford hot rod and much much more.
First, here's something that people have really been begging for: a manual transmission option! A manual gearbox teaser was first shared on the Need for Speed Facebook page back in the early weeks in February. The latest NFS blog post says: "We know that this is a feature that many of you have requested and we can't wait for you to get your hands on it."
Of course, petition from the community was a big motivator for Need for Speed to add manual, but there's more to it than that. The upcoming DLC also introduces drag racing! Drag racing was an old staple in Need for Speed since the Underground days and demanded players to execute perfect shifts and well-timed NOS. It's definitely exciting to see the race event return.
To mark the new race mode, Need for Speed is introducing a new ride: the '32 Ford, aka Deuce Hot Rod. Screenshots of the new hot rod first leaked from EA UK last week and revealed a whole lot about the latest direction that Need for Speed is taking. From the images shared, we noticed a number of customizable parts available for the Deuce, including a moon tank, classic white wall tires, chopped roof, and chrome pipes. Fat drag radials and flame spitting exhaust.
Another new image of the '32 Ford was shared in Under the Hood #5 (TOP), this time revealing something way more radical. Remember the F132 featured in Speedhunters? Yeah, it's in the game now. Crazy, I know.
But what will we do with another car in the roster if Need for Speed only features a five-car garage for us? The developers heard us loud and clear so the latest NFS update features a garage expansion as well. According to the official blog post, a new virtual warehouse expands our space to a total of 10 cars.
"Starting next week your garage will receive an upgrade that will allow you to store an additional five cars," wrote the blog. "Perfect for those eyeing up a new ride and no excuse now not to take a Hot Rod for a fun-filled spin around Ventura bay."
