Those looking to attend New York Comic-Con in 2017 will be shocked to hear that three and four-day passes to the October event will not be sold this year.
In a message to previous NYCC attendees, show manager Lance Festerman gave a rundown of what to expect as we get closer to convention season. While sale dates were not released, he did announce of the elimination of the multi-day passes that have become popular over the years.
It seems the decision was made purely because of the ongoing construction at the Javits Center. Here’s the excerpt from the email that explains the decision.
“We're going to be real with you, this is a very bittersweet announcement - we are eliminating 3-Day and 4-Day tickets. We will only be selling single day Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Sunday Kids tickets to NYCC 2017.
“You may or may not know that the Javits Center is going to be under construction. This means we'll be working with some space limitations and we want to make sure as many people have the opportunity to buy a ticket and come to the show as possible. Selling only single day tickets will give more fans the chance to buy a ticket for at least a day to experience the fun of NYCC.”
Festerman also gave an update on how the ticket buying process will work this year. Again, Fan Verification will be required for anyone looking to purchase a pass to this year’s show. Those who filled out a Fan Verification in 2016 will not have to do it again, and will have access to a limited quantity of passes in a special pre-sale that will be announced for a later date.
Also, tickets will go on sale either on a Saturday or Sunday, based on a Facebook poll that asked when was the best time for potential buyers. However, the specific date will be decided later. The virtual queue that was used last year will still be used, unfortunately, so be prepared for that.
New York Comic-Con 2017 runs from Oct. 5-8.
