Next 'Hearthstone' Expansion: Gadgetzan Newspaper Teases New Cards, Maybe Pirates?

Gadgetzan is starting to look like a dangerous place, filled with muggers and violence everywhere you go. It makes sense that the next Hearthstone expansion takes place in this eerie goblin outpost. On Thursday, Blizzard released another issue of the Gadgetzan Gazette, this time discussing the outpost’s newest port. There isn’t as much to dissect in this issue of the paper; Talan hasn’t been given any new lines and there aren’t any other links on the page.

That doesn't mean there still isn’t some awesome hints of the new expansion in volume 32, issue 8 of the Gadgetzan Gazette:

  • Mayor Noggenfogger -- who will definitely be a Legendary card in this set -- is excited to show off Gadgetzan’s newest attraction, it’s seaport and mega market. The mayor seems even cheaper than a normal goblin, constantly taking fees from everyone around him.

  • The Gadgetzan expansion might be more than just western themed cards. It looks like all sorts of bad guys are coming out of the woodwork, ready to steal cheat and loot their way to a little bit of extra gold. The port is a maze that isn’t easily traversed, which means it’s a prime spot for some muggings and wrong doing.

  • There’s going to be docks, ports and boats, meaning we might be seeing more pirates in this expansion. I’ve always wanted to construct a pirate Hearthstone deck that can actually win games, so my fingers are crossed.

  • There are really some really bad people in Gadgetzan right now: “mysterious cloaked and hooded figures linked with smuggling, illicit potion parlors, and strange red mana that seem to originate from the port.” Another Undercity Huckster perhaps?

  • The “strange red mana” might be Kaza-Kola, which has two ads on the newspaper. We can’t actually see the color of the beverage -- because Blizzard decided to go for that old media vibe -- but it seems like way too much of a coincidence for the company that loves hinting at its fans with ARG games.

  • There’s a pretty funny reference to the Tuskarr Totemic nerf. The “Tuskarr Bros. Totem Emporium” says “we’re hammering down prices on lightly used Flametongue Totems, Mana Tide Totems and Totem Golems.” The three-mana walrus monster got nerfed pretty badly, only allowing him to summon basic totems, which don’t include those three.
