A few minutes of new Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom gameplay debuted over the weekend, courtesy of Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, offering fans of Level-5’s next JRPG another look at exploration and combat in Ni No Kuni 2. There aren’t any major revelations in the new video, but it’s still likely to be appreciated by anyone getting antsy for more information on the Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom release date.
The video comes just days after a new interview with Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino cast some doubt on Bandai Namco’s claims that Ni No Kuni 2 would emerge before the end of the year. The publisher is standing by that launch timeline, despite Hino’s claims that the studio isn’t even 50 percent finished with development, but more of these short gameplay videos would probably be more convincing to the NNK community.
According to the video’s description, the new Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom footage offers a brief look at the party’s exploration of Cloudcoil Canyon, one of the many locales we’ll visit in the final game. There are also snippets of the the game’s Pikmin-esque combat, though we don’t get to see the whole encounter, after the party runs into a large creature known as a Thogg. The video isn’t especially long, at one minute and 45 seconds, but it’s definitely better than nothing.
