The Nintendo Switch screen will be 6.2 inches and have a resolution of 720p, according to Eurogamer. The site mentions numerous sources have confirmed the stats, along with the news that the Switch screen will be a touch-screen.
While we aren't too surprised to hear the Switch screen will have touch support, the great news is that the screen will be a capacitive multi-touch screen like smartphones, allowing up to 10 contact points at once. Previous Nintendo touch-screens, like on the 3DS and Wii U gamepad, are resistant screens. Resistant screens are less precise and only supports one touch point, so the Switch screen should be the best touch device that Nintendo has made yet.
While the screen may only output to 720p, there have been rumblings the Switch dock will improve game performance when playing on a TV. Nintendo has said otherwise, but we'll probably have to wait and see what the case actually is when more information is revealed in January.
A 6.2-inch screen may not seem like much, especially compared to the 7.9-inch screen of the iPad Mini. That may sound disappointing, but a smaller screen could help improve battery life while on the go.
If Nintendo is holding back big enough information like touch-screen capabilities, who knows what else might get revealed later. For now, it's probably best we all just wait and watch that reveal trailer a few more times.
